The owners of these small businesses in Kuna need to realize this is for the greater good of the community. Most places won't be affected. Bars, restaurants, the real-estate companies, etc... Unfortunately, Paul's may be hurt by this... I like Paul's. But overall, it will be good. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few...

These are all concerns people have when the big box store moves in and then followed by more and then restarurants and then strip malls. But also follows is housing and people move in and downtown suffers and 10 years later a downtown project is started and returns as a trendy area with novalty stores and restaurants. So it all works and is happening in neighborhoods all over US.

Hello Sara,
I saw an article about this topic in the papers. Your summary of the pro's and con's is a good one. Small communities are really struggling with the changes facing rural Idaho. This kind of growth can bring jobs, boost the housing market and contribute to the tax coffers. Small communities can hardly afford to say no. At the same time, it is indeed a challenge to maintain the quality of life that brings folks to Idaho. It's important for all citizens to be involved in the planning process. Growth in inevitable. Planned growth is necessary.
