Nature Is Not Always Pretty

A friend from Northern Idaho sent me these pictures and I thought they were worth repeating.

I marvel at the way nature takes care of itself. And even though humans suffer by acts of nature, it is sometimes the results of us not taking care of our earth and sometimes just the natural process that makes our world what it is. Unavoidable facts of life.

That’s kind of how I feel about the real estate world right now. We made it what it is and this is just a cycle that will balance out eventually.

These photos were taken recently by Tom Carver. He lives on Lakelse Lake just outside of Terrace, B.C.  Owner of The Water Lily Bay Resort, he also feeds the swans on the lake all the time!

Eagles are very common in this area too. These are amazing photos!

Enjoy!

So here is the swan photo. #1

What a beautiful bird, so graceful and majestic.

 Here comes the Eagle!!! #2

You can see the feathers flying here from the swan.

#3

This one is so amazing to see the actual  eagle wing span beside the swan.

The poor swan must be scared to death .

It is attempting to actually escape death in the air!

#4

The eagle is loosing his grip on the swan in this picture.

#5

Now the eagle has just lost his grip on the swan completely.

#6

At this point the swan starts falling straight down.

#7

The swan falls into the water below, swims away and the eagle

just looks on at his ‘lost’ prey. I am amazed at these pictures

because I have NEVER seen an eagle attack or tackle something

   so big in mid-air before.

Google Street View Is Available In Most Of Ada County

Internet users who click on the “Street View” box on Google Maps (maps.google.com), will be able to peek at images from streets in the Boise and surrounding communities including Kuna. The views were stitched together from images taken by Google employees over the past year from cars and vans equipped with cameras.

The feature, which already captures street scenes more than 15 cities across the country, has become popular among people planning vacations, searching for shops or restaurants, or checking out landmarks such as Wrigley Field in Chicago or the Empire State Building in New York

Now it can be used to check out a neighborhood when considering a move to a new community. This is a great tool to use to see what is around the house you are looking at. Some things do not show up on the video that the real estate agent advertises with for a reason.

Of course this is just another tool, and does not take the place of actually being there. I noticed on our street it must have been on a very hot day in the middle of the summer. It did not capture the best part of the day.

There were complains about privacy issues, everything from photos of recognizable men entering adult bookstores to an image of a cat in a window has shown up on street views.

“We take privacy concerns seriously,” said Stephen Chau, product manager for Google Maps. “All these images are taken on public streets. It’s exactly what you could see walking down the street.”

This is another good reason to keep the front of our homes in tip top shape. If I would have known they were in my neighborhood we would’ve fixed that dead spot in our front lawn!  Now when we list our house, that dead spot will glare out at any inquisitive customers that use this google feature.

080117-151655At least I wasn’t standing in my robe on the front porch!

The service covers only certain streets and neighborhoods in the cites where it’s now available, although in some locations, such as the Treasure Valley, the majority of streets have been photographed. Google plans eventually to extend Street View to cities and towns of all sizes worldwide.

2nd Thing Not On My Bucket List!

 Devil's pool

This is Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, Africa. The falls are about 416 feet high. The pool at the top of the falls is known as ‘The Devil’s Swimming Pool.’ During September and December, people can swim in the pool as close as possible to the edge of the falls without falling over! The pool and the falls are becoming well known amongst the ‘radical tourist’ industry as more and more people search for the ultimate experience.

Pathetic: I Get My Best Blogging Topics In the Shower

This is what sad looks likeWhy is it when the water is running, the doors are closed and you are surrounded by a mist of steaming water, you are so brilliant? Whether it’s singing, solving a problem or creating your next blog article, the ideas and words just seem to flow. And the best thing is that it sounds so good!

Unfortunately for me, by the time I’ve finished my morning routine, I’ve forgotten every word. I know it was great, but do you thing I can scratch up even a tidbit?

I think I’ll start carrying a pad of paper with me or better yet a tape recorder.

This Is What Bad Spelling Looks Like

This is what bad spelling looks like Oops! Somebody will have a hard time living this one down.

We have probably all made our English teachers cringe at one time or another!

There is a wonderful feature on our Multiple Listing Service that eliminates most spelling problems when a Realtor writes a description of your home for potential buyers ….hurray for spell check.

I love it when my clients call to tell me about an error in a listing. That means they are paying attention and they care that their home shows the best it possibly can.

It bothers me when I see erroneous errors in the home’s descriptions or no location on the map or pictures that do nothing to show off the features of the home. Does the Realtor care? Does the homeowner know? Do people make assumptions because of spelling errors and careless listings? Probably….

Don’t Let Your House Be A Diamond In The Rough

Curb appeal #2Spending quite of few of my weekends this spring looking at homes with some first-time home buyers and we think we found what I call “a diamond in the rough.”

It is a great buy, had more room than we thought, and in a wonderful location for my buyers!  Why did it take us so long to find it?  Curb Appeal!!

Don’t be lulled into the thought that buyers will look at only the facts.  Buyers, especially first time buyers, are looking online and have so many listings to sort through. The unappealing first glance can cause them to jump to the next choice.

When looking at the picture of the front of the house, nothing really appealed to them to take a closer look. Not until they eliminated the more appealing homes, did we take a second look (then I started showing them price, DOM, sq/ ft ect….)

And I can’t tell you how many homes that looked great online, but when we drove up we just kept on driving. So it works both ways.

Don’t Deceive the Public With Doctored Pictures: if they can’t keep the property inviting and clean then don’t candy coat the listing.

Don’t Miss An Opportunity to Get Those Buyers to Drive By and Check Out Your Property.

Too Much Winter? Saturday Fun In Idaho

DeerThese pictures were sent to me by my friend in Northern Idaho. Apparently there have been numerous sighting of Albinos this year(not snowmen)

At first I thought these where fake, but they look like the real deal. Albino moose have also been spotted. I really think they’ve had enough of the white stuff!!

We are enjoying sun and spring like weather this Easter weekend. Great time to look at houses. There are still good deals to be found. After those are gone, prices are going to stabilize again until next winter. Have a blessed and safe weekend.

Saturday Fun and Springtime In Idaho

4GbTg-vB+lGFmTi3ALcOV-jRKXQcIrHG0252Even the snowmen are tired of Winter in Northern Idaho

My wacky best friend in Coeur d’Alene sent me this picture.

I don’t miss the snow this time of the year when you are so anxious to get outside and shake off the  winter blues.

All the cold, wet, muddy parts of winter are behind us here in southern Idaho.  The sun comes out regularly now. And the temperatures get high enough to tempt us out into our yards for the annual reconnect with our neighbors.

Last year at this time I had spinach coming up in my garden (that was unusual). It won’t be long now though, that I will catch myself at work with dirt under my nails.

This teasing weather will soon be full blown spring and it can’t come fast enough!
